Yin Yoga 2023/24

Feeling anxious and stressed out? Try our relaxing Yin Yoga classes and find balance in your life again.
What is Yin Yoga?
Yin Yoga is a practice of stillness and provides an ideal balance to the more dynamic Yang styles of yoga. Its movement is slow, steady, and often stationary — conveying a sense of softness and submission. It is a quiet and gentle practice that emphasises muscle relaxation, rather than exertion.
Yin Yoga poses require staying in position for longer periods of time, enabling you to cultivate awareness for both your body and mind. Practising Yin Yoga also stimulates a healthy flow of Qi (energy) in your body’s meridian channels for optimal health.
Yin Yoga Meets TCM
Yin Yoga has a close relationship with the healing properties of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The stretching of muscles in Yin Yoga poses helps to stimulate the body’s meridian channels – water structures in the connective tissues of our bodies known as fascia. Holding a Yin Yoga pose for 3 to 5 minutes puts our meridian channels under some stress, while releasing it allows Qi (energy) to flow through these channels — creating sensations of relief in our body.
