Pastel Nagomi Art: The Four Noble Plants

The Four Noble ones, or 四君子, refers to the plum blossom(梅), orchid (兰), bamboo (竹) and chrysanthemum(菊). They are found recurring in Chinese art and literary, each representing an important virtue. In this two-part series, learn to appreciate each plant through illustration whilst understanding their significance throughout Chinese art history.

Throughout the course you will learn:
– Basic to intermediate Japanese pastel art skills and mixed media techniques.
– Appreciation of each plant in the context of Chinese literary and art history.

About the Instructor

Ms Sarana Khoo is advanced instructor of Japanese pastel art, and has been teaching since 2014.

Her accreditations include:
• Advanced Instructor, Japan Pastel Hope and Art Association (JPHAA)
• Premium Partner School, Flower of Crystal Art Academy, Japan
• Instructor, Pasterior-sho (Pastel Calligraphy Art)
• Pastel Art Instructor, Love Rose Art

She is also an artist, a certified Children’s Art teacher from Top-Art School of Art, and painting therapist in training.
