Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

Developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts, Center for Mindfulness, this impactful eight-week programme offers practical techniques to help you stay present and manage emotional challenges. With enhanced focus, awareness and mindfulness, you can experience greater well-being and quality of life.

Course Objectives

1. Understand the core of mindfulness and its benefits:
    a. How to live in the present moment.
    b. Develop the ability to respond thoughtfully instead of reacting impulsively.

2. Master a range of mindfulness practices:
    a. Body scan.
    b. Mindful movement exercises.
    c. Awareness of breath techniques.
    d. Loving-kindness practice.
    e. Mindful walking.
    f. Mindful eating.
    g. Bringing mindfulness into everyday activities.

3. Use mindfulness to:
    a. Navigate stress, pain or illness at work or at home.
    b. Enhance concentration and productivity.
    c. Manage difficult emotions like anger, fear and anxiety.
    d. Improve communication by staying calm and present.

4. Integrate mindfulness into daily life.

Full-day retreat
18 April 2025 (Friday): 9.30am to 4pm

Instructor:

Mr. Ong Pee Eng began his mindfulness journey over 30 years ago during his university years. Faced with a midlife crisis brought on by work-related stress, he deepened his practice, which became instrumental in helping him navigate that challenging period.

Now a full-time mindfulness trainer, he offers an array of services, including mindfulness workshops, multi-week courses, children’s classes, and one-on-one meditation sessions.

Driven by his passion for evidence-based teaching, Mr. Ong has earned the following qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher of the 8-week MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) programme from the University of Massachusetts (UMASS), Center for Mindfulness (USA)
  • Certified Teacher of Paws b (ages 7 to 11) and .b (ages 11 to 18) children’s mindfulness programmes from the Mindfulness in School Project (MiSP) (UK)
  • Certified ACTA trainer under Singapore WSQ
